Forsyth man facing drug charges

Police in Forsyth arrested a man that they say has been part of a major drug trafficking ring. This is a case that both local and federal authorities have been investigating for some time. The accused is now facing serious drug charges that could send him to prison for quite a while if -- and only if -- a conviction is ultimately secured in court.

According to a local news report, a 39-year-old male was arrested April 21, after an intensive investigation. This individual is said to have been a football coach at a local high school for several years, though he has not been employed by the school district for the past six years. He also just recently coached a youth baseball team in the fall of 2016.

This individual is accused of receiving and sending packages every other day at two different UPS stores. The packages he collected were shipped from India and contained tramadol, carisoprodol and alprazolam -- all narcotics. He then allegedly split up the pills and mailed them to customers all over the United States.

In total, investigators seized over 64,000 pills. The accused was arrested and taken to an area detention center. Bond was set at over $82,000 in his case which he paid and was released. Court dates regarding this matter have not been reported.

As opioid addiction is a big problem in Forsyth County and in other areas across the state and country, the drug charges in this case are not going to be treated lightly in court. The accused is facing penalties that could drastically alter the course of his life. With so much on the line, this individual can seek help from an experienced criminal defense attorney who will be able to assist him in pursuing the legal actions that will best suit his needs.
