Georgia man facing DUI and other charges

On Dec. 9, a Georgia man was pulled over for a routine traffic stop in Forsyth County. Officers claim that this individual was speeding and failing to stay in his lane of traffic. Upon investigating the matter, the accused was arrested and is now facing DUI and other charges.

Police initiated the stop at approximately 10 p.m. on Highway 400. Officers say they clocked the driver of a Ford F150 traveling 88 mph while in a construction zone. When law enforcement officers approached the car, they say they smelled alcohol on the driver's breath. They asked the accused to participate in field sobriety and chemical testing; he allegedly refused, though he supposedly admitted to having consumed alcohol around 6 p.m.

The accused was arrested and transported to a detention center. He was able to post bail and is no longer in police custody. Court dates regarding this matter have not been reported. Along with the DUI charge, he was cited for speeding and a lane violation.

The accused is said to be an employee at Roswell High School and has been for 38 years. It is unclear if he has any prior DUIs on his record. Regardless, a DUI charge can affect him both personally and professionally should he ultimately be convicted. Fighting drunk driving accusations can prove quite challenging, as the state of Georgia does not take such criminal offenses lightly. With legal assistance, the accused in this case can pursue a criminal defense that will help him protect his rights as well as his current and future interests.
