Police Arrest Georgia Man for Alleged DUI

Police in Georgia recently arrested a man in the Athens area. They claim he was driving while under the influence of alcohol. He is now facing a DUI charge and another traffic violation as a result of this incident.

According to a news report, a 24-year-old male was on his way home from a concert at the Georgia Theatre when police pulled him over due to his headlights not being turned on. In approaching the vehicle, the officer claims to have smelled alcohol in the car. The officer then asked the man to participate in sobriety testing — which he allegedly failed. The young man was arrested and taken to the police department for further sobriety testing.

Law enforcement officials ran two breath tests, they claim the lowest reading of the two came back with a blood alcohol content of .133. They kept the man in custody and charged him with a DUI and headlights violation. It is unclear if any court dates regarding this matter have been scheduled.

There are a number of things that can affect the outcome of a DUI case. Charges do not always lead to conviction or the facing of the most serious of consequences. With the assistance of an experienced criminal defense attorney, it may be possible for this young man to fight the charges filed against him, seek a charge reduction or request alternative sentencing. Counsel will be able to review his case and present him with his options so that he can make informed legal decisions as he navigates through his criminal proceedings.
