Georgia Man Facing DUI Charge

Police in Georgia recently arrested a man and charged him with driving while impaired. This individual has since been charged with DUI drugs — a charge that has some stiff penalties attached to it if a conviction is achieved. He was also accused of several traffic violations. This incident has already and could further negatively affect the life of the accused, which is why having an experienced criminal defense attorney on his side could prove extremely valuable.

According to a local news report, the accused — a 37-year-old male — was operating his vehicle on Ga. 400 on Feb. 28, when he is said to have lost control of it, hit a street sign and then a power pole before coming to a stop. The power pole caught on fire, but the man made it out of his car. Police claim he was stumbling around the accident scene when they arrived.

In the police report, it was noted that the accused supposedly admitted to taking several prescription drugs, including Xanax, Adderall and Subutex. He was transported to the Forsyth County Jail but was soon after released on bond, which was set at just under $3,000. Court dates regarding this matter have not been reported.

The accused was a Forsyth County employee working in maintenance, but he was fired from his job the day after he was taken into police custody. So, this DUI has already cost him his livelihood. If convicted, he may have to spend time behind bars, pay a significant fine or both — unless he qualifies for the drug diversion program. With the assistance of counsel, this individual will have the ability to make informed legal decisions as he works his way through the Georgia criminal court system. With the valuable help, he can fight to achieve the best outcome possible.
