Georgia man arrested and charged with DUI

A Georgia man found himself behind bars after an incident that left a police officer injured. This gentleman allegedly led the officer on a high-speed chase that ended in a collision. Authorities say that the accused was intoxicated at the time of the event. He has since been charged with various violations, including DUI.

According to reports, on Saturday, April 21, a 49-year-old male was operating his vehicle on Ga. 400, southbound. At roughly 2 a.m., a police officer claims to have clocked this individual traveling at 100 mph in a 65 mph zone. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the accused allegedly failed to comply. A chase ensued with the accused supposedly reaching a speed of 143 mph before a pursuing officer struck the back end of his car.

The accused and the officer were both taken to the hospital following the incident. The police officer was treated and released, while the accused was treated and then taken into custody. He is charged with DUI, reckless driving, speeding and driving without a license. It is unclear court dates regarding this matter have been scheduled or if the accused has retained legal counsel.

A DUI charge on its own is nothing to treat lightly. With all of the other offenses charged in this case, the accused may find himself fighting an uphill battle in a Georgia criminal court. While tackling this case may not be easy, an experienced attorney can help the accused do everything possible to fight the charges and seek the best possible outcome.
