Georgia Man Facing DUI for March Incident

An incident in March resulted in a Georgia man being arrested in Forsyth County. This gentleman is facing DUI and other charges. If convicted, the consequences in this case may be quite severe.

According to a recent news report, on March 22, police were called to a neighborhood to investigate an accident that involved a man who was allegedly impaired. When authorities arrived, they talked to a witness who said the driver of a black Pontiac ran over trash cans and a mail box, and drove across a yard before coming to a stop. This all happened while he was allegedly attempting a U-turn.

Authorities confronted the driver who, they say, was not very cooperative. Police claim to have smelled alcohol on the accused’s breath and in his vehicle. He was promptly arrested and transported to the Forsyth County Jail. Charges against him include DUI, failure to maintain lane, open container and various others. It is unclear if this individual has retained legal counsel or if court dates regarding this matter have been scheduled.

A DUI charge is not something that the state of Georgia is going to take lightly. There can be serious consequences, particularly if this individual has any other prior criminal convictions on his record — which is unknown. How the accused approaches this case in court is really going to matter. An experienced criminal defense attorney will have the ability to review the finer details of this case, question any evidence offered against the accused and help him pursue a legal course that will help him achieve the best possible outcome — whether that be a case dismissal, reduction in charges or alternative sentencing.
